Ghosted by Oak Tree Surgery Center and Dr. Chintan Modi. I had an EGD procedure performed on 4/28/26 with anesthesia (Dr. Ritholz not sure of spelling). It was a routine scope with minimal findings and no carcinoma. That night was a sleepless one, and I was also still groggy from the anesthesia almost 24 hours later. A nurse from Oak Tree Surgery Center called me that day to see how I was feeling. I told her that I was still feeling the effects of the anesthesia and that I didn’t sleep well that night. She advised me the effects would subside and that I should stay hydrated. Well, the same thing happened that night. No sleep. The nurse called me again that day (2 days post procedure) to ask how I was doing. I told her that I couldn’t sleep and was still groggy from the anesthesia. She advised me again that the effects would subside and to stay hydrated. The grogginess eventually subsided, but I experienced insomnia for at least 7 days. I was finally able for fall asleep and stay asleep on day 7, but had sleep paralysis for the first time the next night, followed by another sleepless night the next night. I received a questionnaire from Oak Tree Surgery Center via email, and explained my situation, including my claim that I was given too much propofol during the procedure, causing multiple adverse events. The response from both Oak Tree Surgery Center and Dr. Chintan Modi’s office has been “crickets”...radio silence, not returning calls or emails. I had another appointment scheduled for a colonoscopy on 5/11/26, and was waiting for a call from the surgery center with the appointment time. That call never happened despite my leaving at least two messages asking them to call with an appointment time. I advised both Oak Tree Surgery Center and Dr. Modi (voicemail and email respectively) that I wasn’t about to prep for the procedure without a confirmed appointment time. Still, crickets. Today is the scheduled date and still no communication from either office as of 1:00 pm. It's not a good sign when the surgery center and doctor are non-responsive. It illustrates a lack of patient-focused practices, and a failure to accept responsibility for the error. I also highly doubt that the incident has been reported as an adverse event or effect as required. Hilarious! Just minutes after posting this review live, I received a text and voicemail stating that my appointment is for 1pm today. REALLY? Wait for my post, then react?
